Our Overnight Trip to Minnesota: How Skipping the Mall of America Helped Us Save Money
November 13, 2024

This weekend, we decided to take a quick overnight trip to Minnesota. It was to record some music and spend time with friends, but we were determined to keep it budget-friendly. One big decision we made was to skip the Mall of America, a popular destination for many tourists but also a hotspot for spending. By passing on this attraction, we managed to save quite a bit while still having a memorable experience. The Mall of America is tempting with its wide array of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. However, we both knew going there could easily lead to unnecessary purchases. From the moment you step inside, it’s all too easy to justify splurging on items that weren’t originally on your list. We wanted to keep our trip relaxing and enjoyable without the stress of resisting impulse buys at every turn.We stuck to our original plans with no offsetting, I (Cory) spent most of the time recording music while Je’Lisa enjoyed some local entertainment and shows. Our little trip to Minnesota reminded us how often “must-do” tourist spots come with a price tag—and sometimes, simply skipping them opens new and more affordable ways to enjoy a destination. We came home with happy memories, a few photos, and more money in our pockets.
